On October 9, 2026, lower secondary students from UNIGO Primary and Lower Secondary School took part in an interdisciplinary learning experience titled “The Journey of Academic Excellence - Decoding the Imperial Academy” at the Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy, a Special National Monument in Hanoi. Through four engaging challenge stations, UNIGO students, known as Unians, applied knowledge from multiple subjects to real-world tasks, developed logical thinking and teamwork skills, and explored Vietnam’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
“The Journey of Academic Excellence - Decoding the Imperial Academy” was designed as a series of discovery-based challenges that encouraged students to observe their surroundings, search for clues, decode secret messages, and collaborate with teammates to complete each task.
A key feature of the program was its integration of multiple subjects, including History and Geography, Literature, Fine Arts, Information Technology, Mathematics, Civic Education, and Experiential Learning. Each challenge required students to analyze clues, apply logical thinking, and develop appropriate solutions.
Through this interdisciplinary approach, students did more than acquire knowledge from individual subjects. They learned to connect ideas across different fields and apply what they had learned to practical situations.
The journey featured four stations at notable locations within the historic complex. Each station had its own theme and set of discovery-based tasks. As students progressed through the journey, they explored Vietnam’s historical and cultural heritage while strengthening their critical thinking and teamwork skills.
Station A: Khue Van Pavilion - The Beginning of the Path to Learning
The journey began at Khue Van Pavilion with the theme “The Beginning of the Path to Learning.” Physical activities combined with secret-message challenges created an energetic atmosphere, encouraging students to get involved, observe carefully, and actively work toward finding solutions.
Station B: Thien Quang Well and the 82 Doctoral Stelae - Traces of Time
At Thien Quang Well and the area featuring the 82 Doctoral Stelae, students explored historical landmarks associated with Vietnam’s tradition of scholarship and its longstanding respect for talent and learning. Through reasoning challenges and keyword-decoding activities, Unians connected their classroom knowledge with the historical and cultural values preserved at the site.
Station C: Bai Duong Courtyard and Dai Thanh Hall - A Thousand Years of Learning
The next station explored the theme “A Thousand Years of Learning.” Students applied knowledge from different subjects, exchanged ideas, and worked closely together to overcome challenges and uncover codes. Each task encouraged independent thinking while reinforcing the importance of listening to others and collaborating effectively as a team.
Station D: Thai Hoc Hall - Achievement Through Learning
The journey concluded at Thai Hoc Hall with the theme “Achievement Through Learning.” Teams took on the final challenge, completed their assigned projects, and demonstrated their public-speaking skills. This was an opportunity for students to present their findings clearly, express their ideas with confidence, and showcase what they had achieved through teamwork and problem-solving.
Beyond expanding their knowledge, the program provided opportunities for students to develop essential skills for learning and everyday life.

Through these hands-on experiences, students had opportunities to recognize their strengths, learn to collaborate, and become more confident when facing challenges. Connecting academic knowledge with practical activities also helped them better understand what they had learned and take a more active role in their own learning journey.
The “Journey of Academic Excellence - Decoding the Imperial Academy” came to a close with memorable experiences and valuable lessons. It also inspired Unians to continue exploring knowledge, developing their abilities, and pursuing their aspirations as they grow and learn.
